Integrated quality management with SAP QM

SAP QM includes a wide range of functions and processes that support quality planning, quality auditing and quality control. All of this is fully integrated with the SAP ERP system. SAP QM therefore offers much more than traditional stand-alone computer-aided quality assurance systems (CAQ systems) or laboratory information and management systems (LIMS). . With SAP QM, up-to-date quality-related information for all processes and products along the entire value chain is available throughout the company at all times, without gaps or omissions. Avoiding data redundancy also reduces IT costs, while increasing transparency, improving security and simplifying the analysis of quality-relevant processes.

As a general rule, we recommend that you implement the SAP QM module in the first wave of your ERP implementation, although later integration of SAP QM into a productive SAP system is both possible and advisable. The standard interfaces provided offer connectivity to external measurement systems or the integration of specialised statistical analysis systems.

SAP QM supports a wide range of quality standards and customer requirements, including QS9000, ISO TS 16949:2002, VDA 4.3, VDA 6.1, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).

The business case sets out the arguments for and against the implementation of the SAP QM module and the extent to which it can be implemented cost-effectively. We also answer the question of the costs and benefits of an SAP implementation. We assess the compatibility of the SAP QM functionality with your company’s quality management strategy and the appropriate business scope for the module.

Scoping
In the scoping phase, we work with you to assess the impact of an SAP QM implementation on the various business units and processes within your organisation. Our assessment of the associated risks and costs is our most important contribution, as it helps you to define your priority criteria and estimate the time and effort required.

Based on your requirements, our SAP QM experts will describe potential solution options and check for functional gaps and/or determine the degree of coverage in SAP QM. As a result, we can determine the optimal functional scope for the SAP QM module.

Proof of Concept (PoC)
In the Proof of Concept, we demonstrate the functional capabilities of SAP QM and how it can meet your day-to-day business requirements. We work with you to determine the technical requirements, potential costs and associated risks of the various scenarios available. We will then provide you with a list of potential proposals based on your priorities and our SAP QM expertise. We can then develop a preliminary timetable for the implementation of the QM approach.
